Item description: * See scan – perfect condition. This is an extremely scarce and unique example known to exist of the original seal of the 2nd Macedonian – Odrin District Committee during the time of the revolt of the military partisan and terrorist freedom Organization VMRO / IMRO. At that time it was also called VMORO. This seal is from the period of 1903 – 1905 and belonged personally to the famous Macedonian hero Damian / Dame Gruev. Dame Gruev was the partisan leader of VMORO for the 2nd District at that time and the district actually held all the area around the city of Bitolia at that time. This is a true piece of history from the time of the real blood fight and revolt of the Bulgarian / Macedonian freedom fighters against the terror rule of the Ottoman Turkish Empire. Later on Turkey lost those territories. Dame Gruev was killed in action later on against the Turks and their Army. He is known as one of the greatest heroes. He is known for to say the following: WE ARE BULGARIANS AND WE WILL ALWAYS WORK FOR THE UNION OF EVERYTHING BULGARIAN. ALL OTHER FORMULAS ARE MERELY A STEP TOWARDS THE ABOVE GOAL. At that time Bulgaria was a Kingdom and ruled by King Ferdinand I. The seal itself is about 55 mm in diameter and is very large and solid bronze or similar metal alloy. It is also very heavy. The text on the seal says 2ND MACEDONIAN ODRIN REVOLUTIONARY DISTRICT and in the middle there are the flying colors with text FREEDOM OR DEATH, as well as many swords, guns and other crossed weapons. The seal came from the personal archives of the assassinated later on Bulgarian Royal General Alexander Protogerov, who was also one of the famous VMRO leaders and also one of the first Bulgarian free masons. This is a truly unique piece, since almost all archives including all such seals were destroyed during the times of the communist regime in Bulgaria. Scarce collector piece and a true gem.
