Item description: * See scan - perfect condition. For what I've learned about this particular piece, is that during the Opening Ceremony of the Rome Olympic Games there were something like 20 or so pieces of this special presentation Olympic statue that was presented only to the highest ranking executives of the International Olympic Committee IOC. During that time, the Chief of the Bulgarian NOC was also a member of the board of the IOC, so he received this piece. The Bulgarian Chief for many years at that time has been General Lt. Stoycheff. The statue sculpture itself is made out of sterling solid silver and the medal at top is a genuine solid 21.6 karat gold that weighs approximately 1/2 ounce. The statue is about 150 mm tall and the diameter of the gold medal is 30 mm. The whole statue is very heavy... The statue itself resembles an ancient Roman colonade with athlete figures at top, as well as it could also be described as a stylized Olympic flame / torch with that yellow gold medal sparkling at the top of the whole piece. The case is a REAL presentation case made of genuine crocodile leather and red silk inside. The case measures 170mm x 95mm by 60mm.
The gold medal is marked 900 gold and there is also the name of the design artist - R. Signorini.
My personal opinion is that is one of the rarest pieces I've ever had and seen.
Absolutely scarce and a true Olympics collector item.
